New Podcast Coming Soon...
I’ve been podcasting off and on for the past 14 years. I currently produce and host a re-dux of my old filmmaker interview podcast, Crossing the 180, for the Pro Video Coalition “Art of the Frame” network.
But the most creatively fulfilling show I’ve ever produced, hands down, was Radio Film School. I described it as “This American Life” for filmmakers. It was an audio documentary anthology series about what it means to be a filmmaker and creative. Each episode was an auditory smorgasbord of eclectic music, film and TV clips, interview clips, and sound design.
I’m now embarking on a new show that is unlike any podcast I’ve done.
Coming soon…
As you know, my satirical memoir is being published (coming out next spring). And leading up to it, I’ve wanted to produce a related podcast. I already have quite a few interviews recorded. But I haven’t been able to figure out how I want to release it.
That all changed a few weeks ago when I “cracked the code.” I had an epiphany of how I would do it. And I am both thrilled and terrified with the answer (which is a surefire sign that I’m going in the right direction).
I’ve cut a preview episode and I really like it. I’ve shared it with some people in certain places who also liked it. And suffice to say, the show will be coming out—but in a way I never would have dreamed.
That’s all I can say for now. But, if I’ve piqued your curiosity and you’re interested in 1) hearing an early preview of the show, and 2) getting access to any bonus episodes and material, sign up for my Dungeons ‘n’ Durags email list (it’s free). Early next week I plan to send the subscribers to that list a preview link. And once I can reveal the secret I’m being all clandestine about, I plan to share with that list how it all went down.
If you’ve been a fan of my satirical writing, and if you were a fan of my Radio Film School podcast, you won’t want to miss this!
Some recent work for inspiration and reflection
My work as a content marketing strategist and managing editor for various clients has kept me super busy. But, here is some recent work and writing I’ve done that I think will inspire, educate, and/or get you thinking:
5 Lessons on How to Build an Online Brand and Stand Out: blog post I wrote for my client UNUM. Learn 4 tips that you can apply to any kind of online presence (e.g. blog, podcast, video series, etc.)
A Better Workplace: I was the producer for Wistia’s podcast on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. All ten episodes are out (episode 2 even has a personal story from me).
Interview with Mare of Easttown Editor: my latest episode of Crossing the 180 is with Mare of Easttown editor Naomi Sunrise Filoramo, and it’s probably my favorite to date. It’s a fun and thought-provoking discussion covering topics from The Breakfast Club to Bridgerton. (And of course, Mare of Easttown, for which she is nominated for an Emmy in editing).
4 Insidious Tactics of Post-Modern Racism: the last Medium post I wrote that has been getting a LOT of attention.
What I’m watching
A few shows I’ve watched recently have had me excited.
The White Lotus (HBO Max)
The Great British Bake Off (Netflix)
Reservation Dogs (Hulu)
Superstore (Hulu) (Yes, I know this show is old, but I never saw it in its original run. It’s my daily lunch break treat and is perhaps my favorite part of the day. This show brings me such existential joy every time I watch it!)
Okey dokey smokey. That’s all for now. Remember, if you want a sneak peek at the new podcast, sign up for the DnD email list.
Until next time, stay safe out there people!
